Benefits of Freelin-Wade Flexible Pneumatic Nylon Tubes

The unique material structure of the nylon plastic tubing allows it to maintain exceptional chemical, abrasion, impact, and moisture resistance and dimensional stability. Nylon works at increased pressures and resists stress-cracking, with higher chemical and heat resistance than polyurethane tubing. Super Soft Nylon 11 tubes are ideal for applications where media and environmental conditions make polyurethane impractical.

Freelin-Wade nylon tubing resists stress-cracking thanks to UV stabilization, which means it can be used in outdoor applications and in direct sunlight. The lightweight tubing wall makes it easier to work with and provides a durable yet lighter solution for sensitive applications. With a smaller bend radius than other types of tubing, our nylon tubes have better flexibility and can fit into complex designs.

  • Temperature Resistant from -60 degrees Fahrenheit to +200 degrees
  • Chemical Resistant to solvents, alkalis, oils, grease, petroleum, and fungal growth.
  • Corrosion Resistant

In addition to our large variety of standard nylon plastic tubing options, Freelin-Wade also produces custom high-pressure nylon tubing tailored to your unique specifications. Sizes, cut-to-length, coiling, colors, custom printing with any lettering or numbering you need, twin-bonded tubing, cut-to-length and other options are available to give you the perfect high-pressure nylon tubing for your application.

Product Lineup

Standard Nylon Tubing

Freelin Wade Standard Nylon Tubing
Nylon tubing is a unique kind of tubing made from polyamide resin. This material is known for its outstanding chemical, abrasion, impact, and moisture resistance and dimensional stability. Nylon tubing is used in industries ranging from pneumatics, food processing to auto manufacturing and robotics.

Though nylon 6 is the most common commercial grade nylon, Freelin-Wade’s nylon resins allow for a lighter-weight wall, greater flexibility, and a smaller bend radius. It also offers higher corrosion resistance than other types of nylon tubing, thanks to its resistance to moisture absorption.

The molecular structure of nylon makes it far more heat resistant than other types of plastic, such as polycarbonate. The melting point of nylon is 374°F (190°C), far higher than many other resins. In addition to its heat resistant properties, the material’s crystalline structure also gives it high wear and chemical resistance.

D.O.T. Nylon Tubing

Freelin Wade D.O.T. Nylon Tubing
Nylon D.O.T. tubing is made from nylon 11 resin, a unique material derived from castor beans, and is primarily used as break line tubing. Also known as polyamide 11, nylon 11 exhibits outstanding abrasion, chemical, impact, moisture, and thermal resistance, and excellent dimensional stability. It is ideal for use with instrumentation and pneumatic accessories that are connected to the air brake system. D.O.T tubing is required to meet SAE J844 specifications, and comes in two varieties: Type A and Type B.

Type A D.O.T. tubing is 5/16” OD or less. It is rugged enough for critical vehicle systems but is flexible enough to fit in tight spaces. Type B is for sizes above 5/16” and requires a braid inside the tubing.

High Pressure Nylon Tubing

Freelin Wade High Pressure Nylon Tubing
High-Pressure Nylon tubing is for working pressures up to 800 psi. It is also a high temperature tubing, made for temperatures up to 200°F (93°C). The material is ideal for chemical and oil processing lines, tool lubricating systems, pneumatics and other applications that require high quality tubing with much higher burst ratings than typical nylon tube can provide.

Super Soft Nylon Tubing

Freelin Wade Super Soft Nylon Tubing
Flexible nylon tubing is extruded from nylon 11 resin with a special compound added that significantly increases flexibility while still retaining the beneficial properties of Nylon 11. Nylon 11 resin, also known as polyamide 11, is a unique material produced from castor beans that exhibits outstanding impact, moisture, chemical, abrasion, and thermal resistance, along with excellent dimensional stability.

Super Soft as a Substitute for Polyurethane

Recent industry-wide polyurethane shortages have placed restrictions on the availability of polyurethane tubing. While Freelin-Wade continues to produce their highly versatile polyurethane tubing products in a range of sizes, configurations and colors, stocking levels are low. Super Soft Nylon 11 is more flexible than standard nylon tubing and may offer a suitable alternative to polyurethane tubing.
