Air Preparation Accessories – Blocking Valves

Parker Air Prep Accessories
The blocking valve is a single acting spring return 2/2 valve in a fitting format. The device requires a pneumatic pilot signal to open, which allows free flow of air, gas or liquid to pass. As long as a pilot signal is present, the device will remain open. When the pilot signal is removed, the internal spring will close the blocking valve, bubble tight.

The blocking valve is oil serviceable and rated to 150 PSI. These devices have two primary design uses: (1) to prevent unwanted gravity induced motion in cylinders during shut down procedures or during periods of lost supply pressure and (2) freezing the cylinder position by using a blocking valve at each end of the cylinder. Application needs, such as tool or work piece protection, horizontal indexing or inspection stops, are often satisfied by these devices.

Muffler / Reclassifiers

Parker Muffler
Exhaust oil mist and noise pollution have a direct impact on worker productivity. Oil aerosol mist from lubricators and compressors is pervasive and enters the industrial plant environment through the exhaust ports of valves, cylinders and air motors. This rapidly expanding exhaust also produces sudden and excessive noise.

The ECS (Muffler-Reclassifier) is 99.97% efficient at removing the oil aerosols. The ECS also acts as a silencer to lower the dBA levels below O.S.H.A. requirements. The result is a cleaner, quieter environment which equates to greater work productivity and safety. Compressor oils and lubricating oils are exhausted from valves, cylinders and air motors into the ECS. Oil aerosols are “coalesced” into larger droplets and gravity pulls them into the attached drain sump. The sump can then be drained manually or by using a 1/4″ ID plastic tube drain. The air flowing into the ECS is also muffled or silenced as it enters the inside of the ECS and passes through the filter media into the atmosphere.

The ECS units are constructed from the same materials that go into Parker Pneumatic Division oil removal coalescing filter elements. The seamless design insures media uniformity and strength. This proven technology provides high coalescing efficiency with low pressure drop. The filter media is supported by cylindrical perforated steel retainers, both inside and out. These retainers, fully plated for excellent corrosion resistance, give the ECS units high rupture strength in either flow direction. These filters can also be used as high efficiency inlet or bypass filters, for vacuum pumps or breather elements, to protect the air above critical process liquids.

Pressure Switch – PPS1 Series

Parker Pressure Switch
The PPS1 pressure switch monitors the air pressure in your pneumatic system. When the pressure in your system either drops below or exceeds the set point pressure, an electrical output is given. Repeatability — accuracy is the maximum allowable set point deviation of a single pressure or temperature switch under one given set of environmental and operational conditions.

Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) Switching element — A SPDT switching element has one normally open, one normally closed and one common terminal. Three terminals mean that the switch can be wired with the circuit either normally open (NO), or normally closed (NC), or both.

Dead Band — The dead band, sometimes referred to as “differential” or “hysterisis”, is the change in pressure between actuation and deactuation set points.

Shuttle Valve – NG164 Series

Parker Shuttle Valve
Shuttle valves provide a single pneumatic output from two separate inputs. Shuttle valves can be used in multiple applications such as “OR” logic, memory, or interlock circuits. The most basic option of the shuttle valve is to provide a single pneumatic output if either of two separate pneumatic inputs are supplied. Either “OR” of the two inputs will provide a pneumatic output. If pressure is applied to both ports simultaneously, the valve will select the port with the higher pressure.

Threshold Sensors

Parker Threshold Sensors
The plug-in threshold sensors provide feedback information on pneumatic cylinder status in one of three possible outputs . . . pneumatic, electric, or electronic. Mounted into the cylinder port, these devices monitor the back pressure of the cylinder’s exhaust. When the cylinder’s piston stops, the back pressure rapidly drops and the threshold sensor provides the desired output.

Ideal for variable stroke applications, such as robotics, where other sensor type devices, such as limit switches, are impractical. These devices provide a signal whenever the cylinder stops motion. The threshold sensor consists of two complementary sub assemblies; (1) the banjo fitting and (2) the plug-in sensor element. In all cases, the sensor is easily plugged into the banjo fitting and locked in place with a spring clip. The banjo fitting is designed to accept (piggy backed) other functional fittings, such as flow controls or blocking valves. Simply select the sensor based on the type of feedback signal that best fits the application.

Quick Exhaust Valves – 0R Series

Parker Quick Exhaust Valves
0R quick exhaust valves provide rapid exhaust of control air when placed between the control valve and the actuator. When a cylinder can quickly exhaust pressure, cylinder stroke speed will be reduced. The 0R quick exhaust valve has a greater exhaust capacity than the many four-way directional control valves, so increased cylinder speed can be accomplished with a smaller and less expensive control valve. Diaphragm materials are available in Urethane, Nitrile, Fluorocarbon, and PTFE to meet a wide variety of temperature and pressure operating conditions. 0R Quick Exhaust Valves can also be used as shuttle valves, which determine a single pneumatic output from two separate inputs. If pressure is applied to both ports simultaneously, the valve will select the port with the higher pressure.

Global Dump Valve – P32D Series (Compact)

Parker Global Soft Start
P32D modular global compact dump valves automatically shut upstream pressure and exhaust the downstream pressure when the pilot pressure is released. The quick dump valves are high flow, normally closed, 3-port, 2-position directional control valves. Upon energizing the solenoid, inlet air is applied to the top of the piston. The piston pushes against the spring and opens the main valve, providing full air flow to the downstream. When the solenoid is de-energized, the main valve closes, allowing downstream air to exhaust rapidly through the bottom plug. The bottom plug is tapped so exhaust may be piped away or fitted with a muffler/silencer. The P32D can be mounted using a modular connector to other P32 global air preparation products.

Soft Start / Dump Valve – 06S Series (Compact)

Parker Dump Valve
06S modular compact combined soft start / dump valves provide for the safe introduction of pressure to machines or systems. Soft start / dump valves, when set, allow the pressure to gradually build to the set point before fully opening to deliver full flow air line pressure. The controlled introduction can be an important safety factor and prevent damage to tooling when air pressure is introduced at machine or system start up. When the valve is installed into the pneumatic system and the pilot operator receives no signal, the air is blocked at port 1. When a pilot signal is received at the pilot operator, the valve shifts, closing the connection between ports 2 and 3. At the same time, air flow begins between ports 1 and 2 at a slow rate, controlled by the needle valve located on top of the valve. When the downstream pressure reaches approximately 60% of the supply pressure, the main valve spool opens, allowing full flow through the valve in the system. If pilot signal or system pressure is lost, the valve returns to its initial state, venting the downstream pressure through port 3.

Pressure supply piping must be the same size as the inlet port or larger, to insure the pilot valve receives sufficient pressure supply during high flow conditions. The valve should be mounted downstream of the FRL, with the soft start adjustment needle easily accessible. Note: soft start/dump valves are not intended to be used as emergency shut-off valves, but should be placed after a manual shut off valve. The 06S can be mounted using a modular connector to other 06 series air preparation products.

Global Redundant Safety Exhaust Valve – P33T Series (Standard)

Parker Global Redundant Safety Exhaust Valve
P33T modular global standard redundant safety exhaust valve is a solenoid pilot pneumatic safety valve that meets Category 4 (Cat 4) Performance Level e (Ple) in accordance with Machine Directive ISO 13849-1. This unit is proven control reliable technology with integrated soft start. The P33T is field repairable since it is a pneumatic/mechanical system that achieves the safety function.

This valve provides memory, monitoring and air flow control functions that are integrated into two identical valve elements. The valves lockout if asynchronous movement of the valve elements occurs during actuation or de-actuation, resulting in a residual outlet pressure of less than 1% of supply. Reset can only be accomplished by the integrated electrical (solenoid) reset. The valve cannot be reset by removing and re-applying supply pressure. The basic 3/2 normally closed valve function has a dirt tolerant wear compensating poppet design for quick response and high flow capability. Onboard LED provide indication of the main solenoid operation, reset solenoid operation and status indicator condition. P33T is available with an optional transducer for monitoring downstream pressure in the system.
