Electronic Proportional Regulators – EPP4 High Pressure Series

Parker - Electronic Proportional Regulators
EPP4 high pressure programmable electronic proportional regulators allow for regulation of outlet pressure proportionally to an electrical control signal. This unit utilizes Calys software to configure all parameters. The communications cable 496449 is required and permits the communication between the unit and a PC. This free, user friendly software enables live monitoring, recording and upload of the parameters in an Excel file, set pressure scale (PSIG, bar, Mpa), adjustment of minimum and/or maximum pressure limits, adjustment of control signal (0-10V or 4-20mA), adjustable positive or negative alarms (including delays and timing), complete and interactive help files, etc. The EPP4 1/2HP units come standard with an “auto-safe” feature, which is a special electronic arrangement that limits the overheating of the filling coil and consequently prevents any damage to it caused by an excess of temperature. The auto-safe function automatically operates after a few seconds when the control signal remains applied without input pressure.

EPP4 1/2HP units comprise of a traditional servo-operated pneumatic pressure regulator, where the pilot chamber is fed by one or the other of two pulse width modulated 2-way solenoid valves. An internal pressure sensor measures the output pressure of the regulator and provides a feedback signal to the controller. Any difference between the control signal and the feedback signal is converted to a digital signal to energize one or the other 2-way valves to correct the position of the regulator. The control signal can be voltage 0-10V or a current 4-20 mA.

Electronic Proportional Regulators – P3YP Series

Parker - Electronic Proportional Regulators
P3YP programmable electronic proportional regulator allows for regulation of outlet pressure proportionally to an electrical control signal. This unit must be ordered as a discrete unit with either 0-10V, 0-20mA, or 4-20mA control signal. Units also have to be ordered in normally closed (NC) or forced exhaust normally open (NO) versions. For the forced exhaust version, when supply voltage is lost, the unit will automatically exhaust the regulated pressure to 0. Internal pulse width modulated valves control the output pressure proportionally to an analog input control signal of either 0-10V or 4-20mA. The P3YP control signal is not field convertible and needs to be ordered either 0-10V or 4-20mA.

The unit is comprised of a traditional servo-operated pneumatic pressure regulator, where the pilot chamber is fed by one or the other of two pulse width modulated 2-way solenoid valves. Programmable Air Regulating Valve (binary) – Par-15 Series

Parker - Electronic Proportional Regulators
PAR-15 (Patent No. 4,630,632) is a unique 3-way programmable air regulating valve that functions as a precision, high-flow, multi-purpose binary regulator. The response from the valve is virtually instantaneous and repeatable, thus reducing the need for feedback controls. Full flow exhaust permits instant reduction to any lower selected pressure or zero. High relief capacity quickly vents downstream overpressure. The output pressure will begin to change 20 milliseconds after a change in the electrical input of one or more of the solenoids.

The PAR-15 is available with two types of output pressure regulation: increasing output and decreasing output. The increasing output pressure regulation type (normally closed (NC)) solenoid operators are used to divide the input pressure into 15 equal steps ranging from 0 PSIG (all solenoid operators de-energized) to full line pressure (all solenoid operators energized). With the decreasing output pressure regulation type (normally open (NO)) solenoid operators are used to divide the input pressure into 15 equal steps, but starting with full line pressure (all solenoid operators de-energized) and ending with 0 PSIG (all solenoid operators energized). Signals from a controller, fed to the valves four solenoids, are controlled by on/off signals that selectively divide any input pressure into any one of fifteen equally spaced pressures, plus zero, based upon a binary input truth table.

P3BA208 is a pneumatic air volume booster that reproduces a low flow control signal with a higher regulated flow output pressure. It uses an unregulated input pressure to maintain a regulated output pressure under flowing and non-flowing conditions. The P3BA208 is available in multiple predetermined ratios, thus providing user with a direct reproduction of the pneumatic control signal, a multiple of the pneumatic control signal, or a fraction of the pneumatic control signal.

The P3BA208 pilot input signal amplifier accurately controls output pressure bases upon a predetermined ratio. The input signal amplifier reproduces a low flow control signal with a higher regulated flow output pressure. It uses an unregulated input pressure to maintain a regulated output pressure under flowing and non-flowing conditions. A separate control chamber isolates the diaphragm from the main flow to eliminate hunting and buzzing.

High precision pneumatic regulators are designed to provide a constant pressure output from a fluctuating supply pressure, much the same way an electronic pressure regulator works. Pressure regulators provide varying degrees of accuracy with regards to their reduced pressure output. General purpose regulators work for most fluid power applications. However, for more pressure critical applications, precision regulators can provide the control required.

When designing a pneumatic system it is important to determine not only the air flow the application will require, but also the acceptable level of pressure variation. Sometimes an existing pneumatic application does not meet the customer’s needs with regards to pressure control and/or stability. Variables, such as temperature changes, inlet pressure changes, variations in flow, excess downstream pressure, cycling, etc., can cause issues with pressure stability. For these critical applications, precision regulators can provide the control required. An internal poppet valve, which is balanced by utilizing a rolling diaphragm, insures a constant output pressure even during wide supply pressure variations.

Stability of regulated pressure is maintained under varying flow conditions through the use of an aspirator tube, which adjusts the air supply in accordance with the flow velocity. A separate control chamber isolates the diaphragm from the main flow to eliminate hunting and buzzing.

Additional options available are internal check valve, non-relieving diaphragm, tapped exhaust, tamper resistant and screwdriver adjustment.
