Filters
An air filter removes contaminants from your compressed air system. At high concentration and high speed, these particles can be extremely harmful. They block orifices, erode components, and clog clearances between moving parts. In addition, as air is compressed and cooled, some water vapor condenses out as free water, and is swept downstream into the air system. This may result in rusted pneumatic tools and components, contaminated lubricants, and frozen air lines during low temperature periods. Proactively removing these contaminants will improve efficiency and extend the life of your system.

Coalescing Filters
Watts Fluidair Coalescing elements can capture particles smaller than the nominal size of the flow passages through the element. As air flows through the element, particles are captured by three different mechanisms: direct interception as particles impinge on the fibers; inertial impaction as particles are thrown against fibers by the turbulent air stream; and diffusion as smaller particles vibrate with Brownian movement to collide with fibers and other particles. A particulate pre-filter is required, as larger contaminants tend to block the passages between fibers, reducing the efficiency of the coalescing element.

Regulators
Precise air pressure control is essential to efficient operation of air-powered equipment. Pneumatic equipment that is operated at higher than recommended pressure wastes the energy to generate that pressure. It creates a potential safety hazard, and will wear out prematurely. Operating below specified pressure can cause the machine to fail to meet design performance specifications. All of these issues with a specialized control valve known as a Watts air pressure regulator.

Lubricators
Air line lubricators meter oil from a reservoir into the moving air stream. Too little oil can cause excessive wear and premature failure. Too much oil is wasteful and can become a contaminant, particularly when carried over with the air exhaust. Intermittent lubrication may be the worst situation because the oil film can dry out to form sludges and varnishes on internal surfaces. A high quality lubricator applies the proper amount to keep your system working efficiently.

Dryers
Refrigeration Dryers
Watts FluidAir Refrigeration dryers work by cooling the air, so are limited to positive pressure dewpoint ratings to prevent freezing of the condensed liquid. Ideal for general purpose applications, they typically provide pressure dewpoints of 38°F (3°C), 45°F (7°C) or 50°F (10°C) pdp. Air is reheated before it re-enters the system to prevent piping from “sweating” in humid conditions. Refrigeration dryers are not suitable for installations where piping is installed in ambient temperatures below the dryer dewpoint i.e. systems with external piping.
Inline & Regenerative Desiccant Dryers
Adsorption or desiccant dryers remove moisture by passing air over a regenerative adsorbent material which strips the moisture from the air. This type of dryer is extremely efficient and typical pressure dewpoint ratings are -40°F (-40°C) or -100°F (-70°C) pdp. This means that for water vapor to condense into a liquid, the air temperature would have to drop below -40°F (-40°C) to -100°F (-70°C) respectively (the actual air temperature after an adsorption dryer is not the same as it’s dewpoint). Beneficially, a pressure dewpoint of -15°F (-26°C) or better will not only prevent corrosion, but will also inhibit the growth of microorganisms within the compressed air system.
