High Energy Rope Mount (HERM) – Vibration Isolation Systems
Enidine developed the HERM (High Energy Rope Mount) Isolator for electronic cabinet shock and vibration isolation systems, rafted deck systems and industrial applications. They have successfully passed barge testing and reduced shock inputs to levels compatible with COTS equipment for shipboard shock and blast mitigation of vessels and can be used in hazardous industrial type applications.
The HERM mount is an effective shock and vibration isolation solution for cabinets, platforms, rafts, cradles, canisters and shipping containers requiring shock and vibration mitigation.
In addition to electronic cabinets, the HERM can successfully be used on other shock and vibration isolation systems offering protection for radar systems, weapons, vehicles, gnerators, piping systems and engine mounts. Any contractor or manufacturer needing shock and vibration isolation mounts and systems offering protection over a wide deck frequency range could benefit from this innovative product.
ULTRA-HERM® Vibration Isolation Mounts
The patent pending ULTRA-HERM® (High Energy Rope Mount) incorporates the use of a traditional Enidine helical wire rope isolator encased in a proprietary elastomer based compound. The stainless steel cable of the mount provides for a rugged construction, while the elastomer provides additional damping and stiffness. This unique design results in a fail safe mount with a higher stiffness and energy absorption capacity.
The ULTRA-HERM® mount is readily scalable and performance easily tuned by varying the wire diameter, loop size, number of loops and elastomeric properties. The ULTRA-HERM® is proven particularly strong in low natural frequency “soft deck” applications of 12-16 Hz, reducing output G’s to below 15G’s. Its sealed nature of construction also provides for easy NBC washdown. Since the mounting size of the ULTRA-HERM® isolator is virtually identical to that of standard wire rope isolators used in many applications, equipment upgrades are both simple and seamless with drop-in replacement capability.
